The Brothers Young are, in fact, three brothers rounded out with the help of three of their closest friends. Dillon, Dustin and Michael Young are joined by Levi Cecil, Travis Girton and Trevino Brings Plenty for the follow-up EP to their outstanding debut, The Sun Says He's God. Family, friendship, love and struggle are common themes amongst the ornate songs on their newest, Good People. The three brothers discussed some of their favorite lyrics and the emotion behind them.

This is a life song, not a love song. But in the end, life and love are the same.

"Our dad played guitar and sang old John Denver songs, and mom pretty much listened to oldies. She swore she had soul music in her genes. Her father actually owned a music shop."

The crosses on the grass hill were all once smiling faces, they wrote in all their journals about times and places.

"We bring songs to each other, and then collaborate to build on those foundations."

And just like ants, oh when we’re working we’re hoping there’s a reason for what we do.

"Younger siblings tend to have a fascination in their older siblings interest."

When I remember all the things you do it often makes me smile, it often makes me cry.

"I would say that we’ve had (and still have) our battles, but I can’t imagine not being close. It has a lot to do with those daily annoyances we go through that end up creating a love song for each other."

I think that love amongst friends should be good enough. I think the truth is that love is the only light in us.

Good People represents a love of craft, community and life in general with six songs of celebration, introspection and enlightenment; available from Emeritus Records on August 31st, 2010.
