Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death started out as a cover band playing Jaques Brel and 1910 Fruitgum Co. songs; they failed.

The band formed as a reaction to limitations of traditional rock bands. With two of their members having spent copious hours performing in a more traditional band, it makes sense that their new band would look to push boundaries. Spencer Moody, former frontman of the Murder City Devils, steps in on vocals and Pretty Girls Make Grave's frontlady, Andrea Zollo, pounds the drums. The band rounds out with Corey J Brewer on guitar and Joel Cuplin on bass. With Moody as the frontman, you'll be happy to know his chaotic intensity has not diminished. His laconic, obituary-informed words are splayed against scathing, scratching guitars and a rhythm section that resembles a distant, approaching thunderstorm with electricity in the air, rumblings from afar and a sense of fear and exhilaration.

Culling inspiration from a chapter of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Beautiful And The Damned" combined with one of Brewer's imaginary metal bands, Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death scratched its name onto the wall. Their newest LP, Some Of Us Are In This Together, was recorded with the help of Dan Pirone and the resulting album is a caustic, post-romantic collection of hiss, tragic nostalgia and laments. Staggering between acerbic and vengeful anger to a mournful - almost hungover - mood the songs often build with an eerie tension, begging for release. Songs like "Let's Leave The Elephant In The Room" or "Don't Lust After Other Women" can veer from a pure white squall to an almost ambient calm.

Live, the band plays it loose and semi improvised. Spencer Moody is long known as one of music's most engaging frontmen and when he's on stage, he does what he does best - grabs the room's full attention the moment he takes to the stage, and maintains it until he walks off! Shows, always chaotic, have ranged from fans dancing wildly on the stage to darker. With music as confrontational as this band, they're occasionally met with insults and aggression... less than ideal, it certainly demonstrates a band rawly engaging their audience and unwilling to bend their art for ease of digestion.

Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death do what they want, tour when they feel like it, and will never, ever break up. Some Of Are In This Together is out on January 18th from Don't Stop Believin' Records in beautiful double vinyl!
