THE COMEDIANS OF COMEDY, the critically acclaimed documentary
which became the critically acclaimed Comedy Central six-episode
series, will be continuing to tour the country this fall. The Comedians
of Comedy will once again bring their risk-taking stand-up out of
the typical night clubs and into rock clubs, theatres, and other
indie venues. Most recently, they played to a packed tent of fans
as the first comedy show to be asked to be a part of the world-famous
Coachella Music Festival.
The Comedians of Comedy was created by Patton Oswalt in a fit of
rage and optimism, and consists of a core of comedians — Maria
Bamford, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn — all of whom
have gained greater national exposure through the CoC film and TV
show. Maria has released a second album (How to Win!) and Brian
just released his first (Live In: Nerd Rage, on Relapse Records).
Zach has released a concert DVD, Live at the Purple Onion, and has
just directed and starred in a video for Kanye West. Patton’s
new album, Werewolves and Lollipops (SubPop), is currently the #1
album on iTunes Comedy, and the #3812 album on iTunes Hip-Hop.
Plus, all of them have been doing films and TV shows like they’re
big shots or something. Brian’s a regular on The Sarah Silverman
Program, and appears in Fantastic Four 2 and Surf’s Up, Maria’s
got her own SuperDeluxe.com show as well as being a regular on Tim
and Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job!, and Zach will be appearing
in the upcoming Sean Penn film Into the Wild, and starring in the
indie feature Visioneers. Patton is the lead voice in Pixar’s
Ratatouille, and will be appearing in the upcoming features Balls
of Fury, Sex and Death 101, and All Roads Lead Home.
The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour DVD, featuring the
core group of comedians along with a slew of very special guests,
comes out in October and will coincide with the nationwide tour.
This concert film will also premiere on Comedy Central. With an
ever-rotating roster of talents, the CoC is sure to make your bar
mitzvah or mandatory retirement party a success!
